In our previous update, caisson wall shoring was well underway on the north side of the property. Since then, approximately 340 1-metre wide drilled concrete caissons have also been installed throughout the site as part of the foundation design. The caisson work is now complete and shoring for the building’s foundation is also nearing completion.

CURRENT ON-SITE ACTIVITY
The site, located at 1575 Lakeshore Rd. W., is bustling with construction trucks and cranes. Over the summer months, the site will see exciting activity, such as the installation of lagging and tiebacks along the south and west sides. Lagging is part of the shoring system implemented to prevent cave-ins in earthworks and tiebacks are used to retain the shoring walls for stability when excavating.
Bulk excavation has commenced at the west end of the 4.4 acre property in preparation for the building’s foundation and underground parking structure. Construction crews are removing approximately 200+ truck loads of earth per day. Bulk excavation is expected to continue until this fall 2016.
A dewatering system is being installed on-site as excavation occurs. Implemented to control groundwater levels, the dewatering system will allow for safe and dry working conditions. Dewatering applications will continue heading into the fall of 2016.

UPCOMING SITE MILESTONES
In mid to end of July we will be erecting our first crane with a second crane to follow approximately six weeks later. The forming operation for the lower level of the underground parking garage structure is set to commence this July 2016 with expected completion in spring of 2017.
