The 32,000 sq.ft. building offers ground level retail units starting from 1,200 sq.ft. The architectural design of the building uses materials such as rich heritage brick, solid precast porticos, large scale “warehouse” style glazing, traditional pinned letter signage and vintage inspired lighting on the façades.

The commercial promenade entrance will be lined with trees and greenery, inviting shoppers and visitors to the building and central community park. European inspired pedestrian walkways will calm traffic and enhance VANDYK’s community driven vision for the condo community residents and visitors alike. “We made a concerted effort to design the building at a neighbourhood scale,” says Domenic Zita, Executive VP of VANDYK group of companies. An eco-friendly green roof will be included on top of the two-storey structure.

The Stonegate Community Health Centre (SCHC) is already 100% leased and it will occupy the entire second floor of the commercial building. The SCHC has been a Stonegate staple for over 20 years and community members are pleased the health hub will remain in the neighbourhood. VANDYK is looking to augment the services of the SCHC with a pharmacy and clinic to round out the medical mix within the building.

The Shoppes at Stonegate is attracting interest from a number of unique businesses. VANDYK will soon begin the process of securing specialty shops and independent retailers to the ground level to service the broad local demographic of retirees, growing families and hip urban dwellers from the surrounding Parklawn, Queensway, Sunnylea and Bloor West neighbourhoods. “We are looking for an artisan cafe, drycleaner, bakery, and salon or spa,” says Zita. “Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming place with retailers who know their frequent customers by name.”

Construction of The Shoppes at Stonegate will commence this summer 2016 with occupancy expected in 2017.
